UGANDA: 10-storey parking lot coming soon

Posted on

Mercantile Properties has revealed plans to provide a 10-storey building parking lot on Colville street in Kampala Central Business District. KCCA Deputy Public Relations Officer, Robert Kalumba stated that the Shs 27.3bn investment will help decongest the city.

Figures by Uganda Revenue Authority show that Uganda has over 800,000 vehicles with about half of them in Kampala. The number increases by 10% every year. As a result, thousands of vehicles are parked on the sides of the already-congested roads.

In recent times, developers have been accused of altering approved building plans and turning underground car parks into shops and stores.
