Plans are in full gear for the construction of a mega wind power farm in Singida town by the end of 2016. The project is to be developed by China’s Dalian International Group.

With a cost of over US$132m for the first phase, the wind farm will generate up to 50 MW of power to be channeled to the national grid. This initiative is also anticipated to generate at least US$ 23m annually for the country.

Head of Energy and Infrastructure development, National Development Corporation (NDC); Mr. Pascal Malesa confirmed that preparations are in final implementing stages and that production of power will commence from next year.

About 150MW of power is expected to be produced upon the completion of the second phase. The wind farm will provide many industries with locally-generated electricity.
