China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, as part of its corporate social responsibility is building a transportation university in Nigeria. The university which would be the first of its kind in Africa is located in Daura, Kastina State, the home town of President Muhammadu Buhari. The scheme which is set to cost about $50 million would be completed within the next 18 months.
President Muhammadu Buhari while speaking groundbreaking ceremony noted that the newly-established institution would bring rapid development to the transport sector as well as generate both academic and non-academic employment opportunities for Nigerians.
He further stated that it is expected that in no distant future, Nigeria as a result of the graduands from this university will effectively operate and maintain the numerous railway infrastructure and services within the country.
The construction of the Transportation University will further create avenues for collaboration between CCECC and Nigeria and would also foster the bilateral relationship between China and Nigeria.
