Kenya Unveils Affordable Housing Scheme

The Kenyan Government has launched one of the housing projects under the “Habitat Heights” Housing Scheme. This scheme is the first project of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) that will see the delivery of 8,888 affordable housing units to Kenyans when complete.

The project will be located at Lukenya in Machakos County and is being undertaken by AFRA Holdings Limited through its local subsidiary Singapura Developers Ltd (Kenya) in conjunction with Housing Finance.

It is is expected that the project will inject an estimated 5 billion dollars into the Kenyan economy and to further enhance affordability, the government is working with various stakeholders to identify suitable tax incentives that would have a positive impact on the cost of construction.
