KENYA: MCA’s plan to set up county construction laws

After a short recess by county representatives in Nairobi which ends today,  MCAs will upon resumption tomorrow focus their attention on passing a bill to pave way for the demolition of all unauthorised buildings.

Elias Okumu, majority leader stater that the current spate of collapse of buildings is rather disturbing and plans will be made to ensure the bill is passed as soon as possible.

The Nairobi City County Regularisation of Developments Bill, will  authorise the demolition of substandard buildings as well as structures on river banks, railway lines and road reserves.

It will also ensure that buildings erected illegally on public land are puller down.
