KENYA: Erection of a 700km border-wall, a right choice or not?

Posted on

In an attempt to fortify the nation, Kenyan authorities have commenced the construction of a security wall 700km long along the Kenya-Somalia border.

The most successful security barriers im the world remain the US-Mexico border long fence and the controversial Israel-West Bank wall, both of which employ the most advanced technology and are manned by fully trained and equipped special forces in very considerable numbers indeed. With complete air cover.

The wall which is likely to be a white elephant will require a minimum of 200 outposts backed up by a number of barracks and many helicopters.

There are many more questions than answers about this wall and counterterrorism intelligence gathering. However, the Kenya government should act on intelligence first and only build a wall as a last resort.
