Vladimir Putin- Russian’s President made an agreement with Egyptian President- Abdel Fattah el-Sisi during his visit to Egypt in February to build a nuclear power plant in the country.
The project is expected to kick off in 2016 through 2021. Russia, China and South Korea are in competition to win the tender for the construction of the project. The nuclear power plant will be constructed in four phases. Phase 1 will involve the construction of two nuclear-operated facilities, each with a capacity to produce 950 to 1,600 MW.
Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) also announced that South Korea signed an MOU with Arab Contractors during the “Korean Nuclear Industry Roadshow” organized by the corporation last November. This deal is to see to the importation of Korean nuclear power to Egypt.
