In a few months time, a park which will worth about $200million (Rwf138 billion) is to be constructed in Kigali. The park will be built on the site of the former Kigali City Park near Kigali Golf Course in Nyarutarama.
It will comprise of villas, up-market apartments and a five-star Sheraton hotel on about 9.6 hectares of land which will be built in two phases. The first phase is expected to take two years while the second phase is to last between four to six years.
Construction work is to commence after a groundbreaking ceremony by government officials, led by Infrastructure Minister James Musoni and City of Kigali Mayor Fidele Ndayisaba.
According to Hatari Sekoko, the Director of Century Park Ltd, – the company in charge of the project “Everything is in place for the commencement of the first phase, which will have 16 villas, two apartment blocks and a boutique hotel. These establishments will be used to test the viability of the rest of the development.”
He further stated that the first phase is to cost an estimated sum of $7 million (about Rwf4.8 billion), while the second phase will cost about $200 million.
